March 16, 2020 is a date our community won’t soon forget.
It was the day when it became very clear the COVID-19 crisis had reached our borders and every single Canadian was now being urged by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to stay home indefinitely to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.
It was also the day I started my new role as the CEO at the YWCA Edmonton.
During these uncertain times as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, our foremost concern is the health and safety of our staff and all those we serve in our community.We have made the decision to shut down our in-office operations as of yesterday.
This Sunday is International Women’s Day. The theme for 2020 is “Each for Equal,” which is all about the concept of ‘collective individualism’ and how we each have a role to play in creating a more gender equitable world. ⠀⠀
