Donations & Fundraising

Will my donation actually make a difference?

Your support makes a difference every day. All donations large and small are gratefully accepted and contribute to our annual fundraising goal, allowing us to lead, support, and advocate for women, girls, and families when and where they need us.

Can I direct my gift?

Gifts directed to “Area of Greatest Need” allow YWCA Edmonton the flexibility to apply your funding where it will make the most impact. Designated gifts will be allocated as directed by the donor.

Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes, all donations of $10 or more are eligible to receive a tax receipt. When you make an online donation, you’ll automatically receive a tax receipt to the email address you provide. Any offline donations will receive the tax receipt in the mail to the address provided.

If you need a replacement receipt, please contact our Fund Development team at donations@ywcaem.org or by calling 780-423-YWCA (9922) to request a copy.

Monthly giving tax receipts are prepared in January of each year.

How do I make changes to my Monthly Gift?

Please contact us at donations@ywcaedm.org or give us a call at 780-423-YWCA (9922) if you would like to make any changes to your monthly gift, including updates to the amount and method of payment.

What payment options are available for a Monthly Gift?

We can accept Visa, Mastercard, or Visa Debit at this time. We would be happy to discuss alternate payment options with you; please contact us at donations@ywcaedm.org or give us a call at 780-423-YWCA (9922).

How much of my gift goes to administration?

YWCA Edmonton spends approximately 10% of its annual budget on management, administration, and fundraising.

I’d like to fundraise and/or hold an event to raise money for YWCA Edmonton. How do I do that?

We’re so grateful for all fundraising support in our community. For further information, contact our Fund Development team at donations@ywcaedm.org.

Does YWCA Edmonton accept in-kind gifts such as clothing, toys and household goods?

While appreciated, we are unable to accept other gifts-in-kind such as clothing or children’s toys. If you are interested in making gifts of this type, we would be pleased to refer you to a number of local shelters and care facilities who can put these gifts to best use.

What is YWCA Edmonton’s legal name?

YWCA Edmonton is our full, legal name.

I am receiving supports and/or have received supports from YWCA Edmonton and I want to give back. Can I volunteer?

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who wants to volunteer, but ensuring that you receive the supports you need is our number one priority.  To find out if you are able to volunteer with YWCA Edmonton, please connect directly with your service provider, such as your Service Coordinator or your Counsellor. 

Privacy & Security

How secure are donations made online to YWCA Edmonton?

The YWCA uses encryption technology. Check the address bar on pages that require sensitive information like credit card info, and you will see “https”. The “s” stands for secure and indicates that sensitive information will be encrypted and transmitted securely.

Does YWCA Edmonton publish donor names?

We publish our donor names in our Annual Report, and on the Our Supporters page of the YWCA Edmonton website. We are grateful for every donation; however, with limited space, we only acknowledge those who contributed $500 or more annually. All donors have the option of making their donations anonymously if they are more comfortable. 

Will my information be shared with anyone? 

We collect only the personal information that we need for the purposes of providing services to our clients and donors. All personal information is kept private to YWCA Edmonton, and will not be distributed to any other organization. We do not use cookies, or track your online behaviour before or after visiting our site.  Further information can be found in our Privacy Policy.
