PATRICIA E. MACKENZIE
Patricia was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 5, 1940. Patricia passed away in Edmonton in November 2023.
Patricia received a B.Ed from the University of Saskatchewan in 1962 and taught at high schools in Quebec and Ontario. She was an alderman in Prescott, Ontario, from 1974-1980. The MacKenzies moved to Edmonton in 1985.
Patricia was elected to city council in 1986 and served three terms as alderman. She served on the boards of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association; Patricia was elected President of AUMA 1994.
In 1995, Patricia joined the TELUS corporation as AVP Environment. She chaired the Alberta Commission on Learning in 2002-2003. government’s commission on learning. Patricia received the ICD.D designation in 2001 and has continued to be active by serving on boards for the Alberta Blue Cross, Roots of Empathy, Tree Canada (chair), the Centre for Family Literacy, the Law Enforcement Review Board, the Municipal Government Board, Homeward Trust (chair) and Habitat for Humanity.
